The Process of Becoming A Driving Instructor.

A Golden Opportunity

Every single day of the year, someone somewhere is turning 17, and one of the most coveted gifts they can receive is a Driving Licence, which can only be obtained through Driving Lessons. By becoming a Driving Instructor, you have the opportunity to be a part of young peoples’ lives, and play a crucial role in helping them obtain that ticket to freedom, exploration, and the chance to embark on new adventures that a driving licence provides.

Driving Instructor Assessment

Step 1

Is the profession of a Driving Instructor right for you? Take our 90-minute assessment lesson. This is a pivotal part of the process, as we will tell you if you are fit to carry on.

Theory & Hazard Perception

Step 2

Your first Driving Instructor Test is a theory exam with 100 multiple-choice questions. Roadcraft can provide practice questions, answers, and recommendations and, in some cases, offer a range of self-study materials. These can be studied and completed at home in your own time and at your convenience. Along with the Theory Test, you will also be given a Hazard Perception Test, and the two together complete Part One of your training.

Tuition for Driving Ability Test

Step 3

Roadcraft will instruct you to become a better driver and refine your driving skills to ensure you reach the high standards required by the Driving Standards Agency. You will need to demonstrate to your examiner you can drive with a high standard of confidence with high levels of driving technique, anticipation and consideration for other road users.

Driving Instructor Ability Test

Step 4

Your Examiner will assess your ability to teach others. This is the final test. You'll need to demonstrate that you can teach others. The test will be in two half-hour sessions where an examiner will act as a pupil in a role-play situation. You will be required to develop skills in finding, analysing, and giving corrective action in various driving situations, you will be assessed on your method and clarity in providing positive instruction.

If You Decide It's Not for You?

Our training is available on a pay-as-you-go basis, which means you won’t have to pay any significant fees in advance. If after a while, you decide that you do not want to become a Driving Instructor, you can quit without any further cost implications.
